South Australia - A Land of Contrasts

Australia, 5 Nights

South Australia has so much to offer the visitor. From the wine rich valleys of the Barossa to the dramatic gorges of the Flinders Ranges. No visit to South Australia would be complete without a visit to Kangaroo Island, renowned for its wonderful native wildlife experiences.

Day 1 - Adelaide/Barossa Valley
Meet your A&K driver/guide and drive north to the picturesque Barossa Valley where you will check into The Louise for one night. The Barossa Valley is one of the richest and most well-known viticulture and wine making regions in Australia. Taste iconic regional wines, meet local characters and enjoy a relaxing lunch at a local restaurant. The afternoon's touring is tailored to your tastes.

Day 2 - Barossa Valley/Flinders Ranges
This morning depart for the Flinders Ranges. See tree-lined gorges, rugged mountain ranges, rolling plains, native wildlife and the rich colours that mark this stunning ancient land en route to Rawnsley Park Station, a working sheep station located in the Flinders Ranges. Rawnsley Park Station offers secluded luxury eco-villa accommodation. The remainder of the day is free to enjoy the stunning surroundings.

Day 3 - Flinders Ranges/Jamestown
After breakfast enjoy a four-wheel drive tour of the Flinders Ranges through the spectacular gorges, discovering Ediacaran fossils embedded in the rock. Tonight enjoy a warm welcome at North Bundaleer, one of the last grand pastoral homesteads built in South Australia.  This heritage listed property is established on 400 acres of native bushland and farmland next to the historic Bundaleer Forest. This evening enjoy a sense of occasion with a convivial atmosphere in the large dining room, the elegantly appointed drawing room or the comfortable library with its eclectic selection of books.

Day 4 - Jamestown/Clare Valley/Kangaroo Island
After breakfast depart Jamestown and travel to Sevenhill Cellars, the oldest vineyard in the Clare Valley. Established by a party of Austrian Jesuits in 1851 to produce altar wine for the young colony of Sevenhill, the winery still continues this production and additionally offers an extensive range of dry and white table wines. Depart Clare Valley and continue to Adelaide Airport for your onward flight to Kangaroo Island. Stay at the beautiful Southern Ocean Lodge, the only world-class wilderness lodge on Kangaroo Island. Located at Hanson Bay and commanding spectacular ocean, beach and wilderness views, the 21-suite lodge offers the ultimate fusion of nature and luxury. After dinner take a koala night walk tour or a southern star gaze.

Day 5 - Kangaroo Island
Discover the magnificent coastal scenery and abundant wildlife for which the Island is renowned. Today's activity options, exclusive to Southern Ocean Lodge guests include: walking among the sea lions at Seal Bay Conservation Park or viewing koalas, penguins and kangaroos all in their natural habitat. A focus on exquisite food and wine at the Lodge provides an additional element of luxury.
