Baros Maldives

Maldives

Located in the shimmering waters of a shallow lagoon, the tropical island of Baros is ringed by a house reef, vibrant with marine life and excellent for snorkelling or diving. Elegant villas of timber and sandstone are positioned over the lagoon or on powder white sands, ensuring perfect privacy in a peaceful environment, undisturbed by the sounds of the modern world. Here you will find unique experiences, impeccable service, original overwater dining venues and architecture designed to preserve and celebrate the beauty of nature.

Pack a picnic and head out on a dhoni, keeping an eye out for a pod of dolphins or a leaping sailfish. Or, enjoy an à la carte diving experience in this amazing oceanographic environment. The experienced dive team will choose the site according to the moon, tides and currents. Find yourself amongst colourful corals, graceful rays and inquisitive turtles. By night, join the Marine Environmentalist and discover a whole other world. There are many dining experiences to savour, but make sure you visit the overwater Lighthouse, a unique structure and the resort's signature restaurant. How about a yellow-fin tuna carpaccio and your pick from the glass-walled wine cellar? Afterwards step into the Martini and Champagne Bar, and listen to the light sounds of jazz accompanied by spectacular views of the Indian Ocean.

Pricing
7 night per person price from £1,685, includes: international economy flights, all transfers (30 minutes on a speedboat) and breakfast in a Deluxe Villa. 24 Deluxe Villas sit amongst tropical foliage by the beach, featuring a large teak-floored bedroom opening onto a veradah facing the ocean. The bathroom, with freestanding bathtub, extends into a walled flower garden refreshed by a waterfall shower. Our favourite are the 15 more spacious Baros Villas. Right by the beach, these have a four-poster bed and a private verandah with additional decked area. Located on a crescent-shaped boardwalk, 30 Water Villas inspire romance with a beautifully draped four-poster bed and bathtub overlooking the ocean. There is a private deck for sunbathing and wooden steps down into the lagoon. All Villas come with some thoughtful little extras such as wine-chiller, iPod docking station and espresso machine. If you are looking for complete privacy, the five new Baros Pool Villas and the Baros Residence comes with generous living space and dedicated resort host, a truly romantic hideaway.

Weather

The best time to travel to the Maldives is during our winter months when the humidity is lower and the temperature more comfortable. However, the monsoon season of May to September should not be discounted for travel as the resorts have fantastic offers on accommodation. The heavier showers tend to occur in the mornings or the late afternoons; a perfect time to visit the spa.
