Immersive Grand Canyon and the South West
Self-drive through magnificent Arizona and Utah and enjoy a private guided exploration of the Grand Canyon on this classic Grand Canyon itinerary. Spending two nights on the canyon rim, you'll enjoy a half-day float trip through the canyon and hike less-visited trails. You'll make the most of the area's spectacular National Parks with your own SUV and driver-guide for three days in Utah. And there's more to this itinerary than sculptural rock formations and sweeping views. Your holiday starts amid the serenity of Scottsdale, Arizona, and closes with the vigour and vim of sparkling Las Vegas.
UK - Phoenix
On arrival in Phoenix airport, collect your hire car and head to the Royal Palms Resort and Spa. Put your feet up and shake off that jetlag.
Scottsdale
With the freedom of your hire car you can drive into the countryside, visit Old Town Scottsdale or simply enjoy the fantastic pools and facilities at your hotel. We also recommend visiting the Musical Instrument Museum in Phoenix.
Hot Air Ballooning over the Sonoran Desert
In the early morning, enjoy a one hour shared hot air balloon excursion. During the flight you have unobstructed 360-degree views, allowing for breathtaking photographs. On our flights we commonly see jackrabbit, quail, roadrunner and coyote, and from time to time encounter deer, javelina and other desert animals. Your pilot will point out exotic desert plant life below and descend within inches of trees and cacti, much to everyone's delight. You will be amazed at the excitement and curiosity generated by the passage of our balloons.
Sedona
Take a short drive through a desert canyon to the Enchantment Resort, where you will stay for the next two nights. Relax by the pool or perhaps explore Sedona. The following day you can meet your shared off-road adventure tour through the red rocks of Sedona with a stop at a Native American cliff dwelling.
Grand Canyon Helicopter Adventure
Drive to the Grand Canyon National Park through the desert canyons that characterize Arizona. Stop in historic Flagstaff along Route 66 before arriving at the canyon. Visit the park's Visitor Centre and IMAX theatre before a shared helicopter flightseeing tour. Your home for the next two nights is the Squires Resort, Grand Canyon.
Grand Canyon
This morning, meet your guide or a hike along the canyon rim to discover trails little used by other hikers; this is one of the best ways to appreciate this stunning area. Your guide will explain the geology, flora, fauna and history of the canyon before a guided visit to the historic lodges and buildings on the canyon rim. This afternoon enjoy a private tour of the photography studio of pioneers Emory and Ellsworth Kolb, first to photograph the canyon in the late 19th century.
Lake Powell Float Trip
This morning enjoy a shared float trip on the Colorado River through Glen Canyon. On board, float through sheer walls over 300 metres tall on the gentle waters of this portion of the river, with a stop for lunch in the wilderness. After your tour, continue to your nearby hotel. Spend the day exploring Lake Powell and the surrounding area or sit by the pool and recharge.
Slot Canyon Adventure
Hop into a luxury Hummer and drive with your guide deep into the canyons surrounding Lake Powell. Hike into a sunset-hued slot canyon, 20 meters deep, and admire the beautiful and unique natural features created from millions of years of erosion. This afternoon, head west to Bryce Canyon National Park, and settle into the Stone Canyon Inn.
Bryce Canyon Hiking
Today, enter Bryce Canyon National Park, where your guide will take you exploring. Visit the forest of pinnacles and hoodoos and look out over some of the best vista points. Enjoy a free afternoon to further explore the otherworldly landscape.
Zion
Leave Byrce and head to the Cliffrose Lodge, your home for the next two nights; located minutes away from Zion National Park, in the picturesque village of Springdale. The following day head to Zion National Park, where your guide will take you on trails away from the crowds to some of the best rock formations.
Las Vegas
Bring your South West adventure to an end and drive through the rugged desert scenery to Las Vegas; we recommend stopping at Hoover Dam en route. Drop off your hire car and check in to the Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas, your base in Sin City for the next three nights.
Las Vegas - UK
You will drive to the airport for your return flight back to the UK.
