For a limited time only, we are inviting you to take part on the adventure of a lifetime through Iceland’s lunar landscape of lava fields and smoking volcanoes, before sampling this new whisky from the Talisker distillery. After a day exploring shimmering ice caps and privately guided glacial hiking across rugged icy wilderness and trekking through one of the most spectacular places on earth, you can add on a private tasting of Talisker Glacial Edge 45-Year-Old.
Learn from the experts how this rare Single Malt, Talisker’s wildest whisky yet, has been aged in ice-fractured casks that were exposed to the same arctic winds you feel across the glacier. Twelve American Oak casks were taken on a glacial voyage into Canada’s ice fields. A specialist cooper removed the ends of the casks and they were left exposed to sub-zero temperatures for 96 hours. This allowed the extreme cold to fracture the wood which in turn increased the surface area of the casks that the whisky was able to interact with during the finishing period in Scotland.
Talisker’s home is on the Isle of Skye, where it has existed for almost 200 years and is the oldest working distillery on the island. In 1830, the MacAskill brothers set out from the tiny Hebridean island of Eigg and rowed to Skye. They disembarked onto dry land and founded the Talisker distillery where they came onshore, where the whisky is still made today.
This experience is in partnership with Talisker and will run for a limited time from the launch date of the whisky in November 2023 to 29th February 2024.
