About Lynne
I have spent many years working in the travel industry, working for tour operators, a travel agent and an airline. I lived in Singapore as a child, and that kick-started my love of travel. I love visiting the iconic sites of the world, and then really get under the skin of a country learning about how local people live. To meet local people, see how they live, learn about their crafts, taste the food, chat about family life, all these things are what brings a country to life for me. Being invited in to a wedding party in a rural village in India will always be one of my most precious memories.
Talking points
What's your favourite destination?
My favourite destination is less one single country, but a region. I love visiting the Middle East and North Africa. I love the arid and desert landscapes contrasted by the lush oases, or dotted with the incredible blues and greens of the wadis. But more than this I love the ancient cultures of these destination and the food that comes with it – I could easily eat my way around the Middle East and Morocco.
Which destination is top of your bucket list, and why?
I would love to visit Iran. I am fascinated by the country. At present we do not feature this country as a tailor made itinerary but I am hopeful one day to visit.
How many languages do you speak?
Sadly, due to true British confidence issues, English is the only language I speak.
Which five items do you always pack when travelling?
Pen and note pad – I still love to write notes and thoughts about my travels.
I phone and charger – I like to Instagram too!
Sunglasses – it is bright out there..
Comfortable shoes – practical but a must in the Middle East
Lip salve!
What's your top travel tip?
No matter how much time you have given yourself, always give yourself an extra day. You will be back in the thick of it the moment you get back home, and you need to give yourself time in your holiday destination to reflect on all the amazing things you have done on your trip.
