About Borana
Perched on the edge of the Samangua Valley with views of Mount Kenya, the Borana Plains and Ngare Ndare forest, Borana is an idyllic lodge with breathtaking views.
The Lodge is designed to work in harmony with the landscape and is created from local, sustainable building materials. There are eight cottages at Borana with verandas, all of which have phenomenal views over the dam that is a popular watering hole for large amounts of wildlife. Each cottage has an open-fireplace lit every evening and luxurious bathrooms with exceptional views over wildest Africa.
The main lodge is inviting with deep armchairs, an open fireplace and picture windows offering sights of the plains below. The garden is full of largely indigenous plants, chosen specially for their scents, colours and flowers. The infinity pool offers superb views and guests can relax, read and soak up the sun or watch the elephants that are often drawn to the dam below.
Activities at Borana include game drives, night drives, guided walks, horse-riding, and mountain biking. As Borana is a privately owned property there is more freedom to do various activities.
The custom built fleet of 4 wheel drives, all with built in radios, allows guests to see plenty of wildlife in private without any other vehicles surrounding the animals. The guides are of a very high standard and know each part of the ranch well.
