The perfect start (or finish) to a Kenyan safari
Just a short distance from the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, tours of Lake Naivasha are the ideal way to ease yourself gently into a Kenya safari holiday, or as a final stop where you can catch your breath a little before heading home.
This vast freshwater lake’s name means rough water, due to the turbulent weather that often strikes. Yet, this hasn’t scared away the many species of birdlife here, including goliath heron and pelican. One of the joys of touring the lake is watching as the African fish eagle swoops dramatically down to the water’s surface to pull its prey from the water with its razor-sharp talons.
Your guides will help you spot the giraffe, impala, buffalo and hippo that wander around the lake, and tell you tales of the time in the 1950s that the legendary conservationist Joy Adamson lived on the shore here.
On your tailored holiday you can stay in our excellent lake lodges and camps, choosing to indulge in as many activities on or near Lake Naivasha as you want, or simply let us pamper you as you enjoy the views. There are fishing excursions, boat trips, horse riding and, for the more energetic and adventurous among you, we recommend a day-trip hiking in the gorgeous scenery of nearby Hell’s Gate National Park.
