About Magashi Camp
Discover the wildlife and wilderness of Rwanda when you stay in Magashi Camp. This luxury small camp is situated in the north-eastern corner of Akagera National Park and has a wonderful viewpoint overlooking Lake Rwanyakazinga.
A stay here is simply sublime, taking you to a part of East Africa that boasts some of the most scenic savannah in the area. Take time to enjoy wide open plans, fringed by woodland and low mountains, with lakes and swamps nearby. The national park homes one of Africa’s highest hippo densities, making it the ideal place for observing and photographing this creature. The rare sitatunga (a swamp-dwelling antelope) also live around here, alongside a spectacular variety of more than 520 bird species.
There’s plenty of wildlife that prefers the plains and Magashi is the only exclusive-use area in the national park. With a healthy population of lion in Akagera, it’s likely you will be able to watch this majestic king in his habitat for those memorable moments.
The stunning views over Lake Rwanyakazinga are prominent from each of the six spacious tents. These are all designed for a luxury stay and honour traditional Rwandan culture. Communal areas are beautifully appointed and encompass a cosy lounge, dining and bar area, pool and viewing deck with a fire pit for evening conversations and entertainment.
