This tour is a unique opportunity to meet the women of Rwanda that have taken their future into their own hands. They have become expert bakers, helping drive a more prosperous way of life for themselves and their families. They will share with you their stories of this journey as well as imparting a baking skill or two.
Upon arrival, you will meet one of the ladies. She will act as your translator, communicating in both Kinyarwanda for the other ladies in the bakery and English for you. After this, it’s time for you to embrace the baking process, with the opportunity to make banana, pumpkin, beetroot or carrot bread. You will learn how to knead the dough, add in the ingredients and set the oven to the correct temperature.
Once the preparation is complete, place your unbaked loaf into the oven and relax with a cup of coffee as you wait for it to rise. This is also the perfect time to sit and chat to the women and find out about their life stories and how they got to where they are today. Once your creation is ready it is yours to take with you or to enjoy with your baking colleagues.
