About Somalisa Camp
Walk in the ‘land of the giants’ when you stay at Somalisa Camp in the heart of Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe. Known for its big elephant herds, viewing these majestic animals from the comfort of camp is practically guaranteed. While you swim in the splash pool, resident elephant can be seen wading into the nearby waterhole.
The seven elegant sail tents lie along the edge of an ancient seasonal flood plain nestling on an acacia island a 40-minute flight from Victoria Falls. From the camp, enjoy stunning views of the savannah across the Kennedy Vlei line. Each tent features gauze sliding doors along with a fan for those balmy days and glass wood burner to take the edge off a chilly winter night. Up-to-date facilities include en suite bathroom, including flush toilet, an indoor and outdoor shower, and copper slipper-style bathtub.
After a day on safari you can relax in the split-level decking area with a separate lounge and dining area for you to take dinner before enjoying a spot of stargazing. The solar-panelled camp’s private pool and alfresco dining area overlooks the ‘Elephant Pool’ a natural waterhole where herds of game congregate to drink. Just sit back and enjoy the scene which plays out before you.
Activities include walks lead by expert guides, game drives plus bird watching from hides and cultural tours of the local village. Wildlife sightings may include lion, leopard, giraffe, sable antelope and zebra.
