About Chikwenya
Chikwenya is a tented camp, located in a private concession on the eastern side of Mana Pools National Park (on the border with Zambia). Surrounded by a dense forest of albida and Natal mahogany trees, the camp looks out over an open floodplain and the broad Zambezi River. The backdrop is provided by the mountains of the Rift Valley escarpment.
Chikwenya’s seven luxurious tents stand on low wooden decks with wooden walkways linking them to the raised communal areas. There are two family suites – both with their own pools. In the main areas, the lounge, dining and bar area are comfortable and chic, and a pool and deck offer alternate spaces to enjoy the scenery and passing wildlife. With no wifi access available, the camp is as relaxing and off-the-grid as they come.
The area offers large concentrations of buffalo and elephant, while predators such as lion, wild dog, leopard and cheetah are often sighted. The birdlife is superb, and the grunting of hippo can be heard all day.
Chikwenya is open seasonally between April and mid/late November.
