See China’s surreal karst landscape on a traditional bamboo raft. Your guide will accompany you from the rural town of Guilin. Float along the emerald Yulong River, a lesser-travelled tributary of the popular Li River. Sit back and watch ethereal karst peaks and steep-sided valleys unfold before your eyes. You can also see locals punt goods between the rice paddies and markets.
Step off before you reach the small river town of Yangshuo and swap the raft for a golf cart, or bicycle if you’re feeling adventurous. Then ride through the countryside dotted with farming villages and lush paddies.
Dip into the heart of Yangshuo to West Street, over a thousand years old and paved in marble. Built in the Sui dynasty, the street is alive with history. It’s also filled with tiny shops selling souvenirs, and street food stalls offering traditional snacks. Spend time stocking up on everything from Chinese puppets to calligraphy work.
