About Four Seasons Shanghai at Puxi
Courtesy of Four Seasons, the Puxi hotel sits in a historical sweet spot. Downtown’s buzzing streets and shikumen architecture stand right on the doorstep.
Inside features contemporary decadence down to a tee with plush velvet sofas, modern chandeliers and fresh flowers. Rooms feel regal with hard-to-leave beds, L’Occitane bath products and plenty of light pouring in through the windows.
The main highlight here is the spa, kitted out in black lacquer and candles. Try one of the traditional Chinese medicine therapies practiced for over 3,000 years. Choose from cupping, acupuncture and restorative massages. The usual detoxifying wraps and facials still feature on the menu.
All the trendy shops, restaurants and bars are within walking distance, but you’d be forgiven if you decide to stay in at the Si Ji Xuan signature restaurant. Michelin-recommended for its Cantonese cuisine, you can dine on dishes of wok-fried baby lobster and dim sum masterpieces. Breakfasts are similarly moreish offering everything from xialongbao to blueberry pancakes.
