Learn about the complex Vietnam War from a former US soldier who was deployed to fight for his country. This insider access, exclusive to A&K clients, will take you to meet Chuck Searcy who now lives in Hanoi and campaigns for war veterans.
You will have the chance to talk to Chuck Searcy in a local coffee shop and listen to his memories of the war. He first came to Vietnam in 1967 to fight in the Vietnam War, but became conflicted between his objective and newfound love for the country. In 1992 he returned as a tourist and decided to make the country his home, returning once again in 1995 to work helping children with disabilities. He later assisted the government in their efforts to clear land mines and other unexploded ordinances.
Chuck Searcy will give you the inside perspective of his time during the war and what life was like for his fellow countrymen who were unlucky enough to become residents at the Hanoi Hilton. It promises to be an illuminating and intriguing talk.
