Explore historic buildings, rich heritage and serene riverside
Lying on the banks of the Perfume River, the small city of Hue was once the imperial capital of Vietnam. Despite the ravages of war and the passage of time, architectural treasures from its heyday still dot the city. On our Hue tours you’ll explore many of these ornate temples and monuments while learning about the unique history of the city.
Founded as a royal city in 1687, Hue has played an important role in Vietnam's royal past. The Nguyen dynasty ruled Hue for almost 150 years between 1802 and 1945. The legacy they left behind has made Hue one of the country's most historic cities. During your tailor-made trip to Hue, you can visit the Tu Duc Temple, The World Heritage Citadel Site and the Thien Mu Temple complex. The complex is dominated by the Phuoc Duyen Tower, a building with seven floors, each dedicated to a different Buddha.
Thanks to its slow pace of life and the lakes and greenery that surround it, Hue has a relaxed feel. A boat ride along the Perfume River will take you past the citadel and on to Dong Ba Market, stopping at the city's Royal Mausoleums on the way.
