The hidden world of Mai Chau

From the city of Hanoi, venture into the highlands of Mai Chau where time stands still. Mai Chau’s conical mountains and verdant valleys are home to the Dzao, Muong and Thai hill tribes, whose traditional cultures remain intact. Set out to explore the tiny villages embroidered into the hills. Lunch is served at a local family home with a chance to mingle with the locals and lap up tranquil scenes of sweeping countryside, bubbling rivers and a patchwork of emerald cassava fields.

Tuck into a hearty breakfast before your morning in the great outdoors. Hop on a bicycle and pedal through untouched rural scenery of lush paddy fields, wild flowers and mystical karst mountains. You’ll visit stilted villages from Poom Coon to Chieng Sai. You’ll take in local scenes of farmers driving cattle and women selling richly coloured textiles. Pop into Van village to see over 1,000 antiques including traditional hunting tools, musical instruments and precious jewellery. After working up an appetite, it’s back to your lodge for lunch and an afternoon at leisure.

After breakfast at the hotel you will have the chance to relax before checking out around 10:00 and transfer back to Hanoi.
