Visit the natural wonder of the Scenic Rim
Found in south-east Queensland, less than an hour from Brisbane, the Scenic Rim is one of Australia’s most exceptional natural sights. It is referred to as the Gold Coast Hinterland and it is a world away from the hectic towns that attract surfers and tourists alike. The Scenic Rim offers an expedition into forested mountain ranges, national parks and nature reserves.
Lesser known than many of Australia attractions, first time travellers don’t tend to reach these parts so the visitors here are dedicated and focused on enjoying this natural beauty. The area is ideal for long hikes and contemplative moments with amazing views. Activity seekers can push their boundaries even further with the opportunity to rock climb, hang-glide, fly, hot air balloon and kayak or even spend time in a more serene activity like fishing. Or step into the world of the birds – there are many endangered species in this area – and in World Heritage-listed Beechmont and Lamington National Park, stroll along O’Reilly’s Treetop Walk, about 15 metres above the rainforest floor. Take the kids somewhere a bit different and visit a glow worm cave at Tambourine Mountain at Cedar Creek Estate where the glow of a thousand worms will dazzle you.
The Scenic Rim has an all-round appeal for nature lovers, culinary enthusiasts and those in search of awe-inspiring views.
