Witness the unforgettable spiritual experience known as aarti which takes place at sunset along the banks of the holy Ganga River. Enjoy the sound of hymns being sung by saffron-robed gurus, smell the incense and watch as the disciples sway in unison.
You will travel from your hotel to the Parmarth Niketan Ashram at Rishikesh where you will watch the 90-minute Hindu ritual. The aarti is generally sung at the conclusion of any religious ceremony or puja, or simply by itself each morning and evening as a joyous spiritual celebration. Witness the bhajans (hymns) performed by the gurus. Smell the fragrance of incense as it permeates the evening air. See the light of diyas (oil lamps) and the setting sun reflected on the water. Watch the participants sway in unison as all the elements including fire, water, Earth and air are combined to heighten the synergy created by this ritual. A sense of peace and creation of harmony is the goal of this regular practice.
