Fatbiking is something everybody should try, and the scenic backcountry trails of Banff National Park make for the perfect setting. Fitted with extra wide tyres, these machines offer a smooth cycle over even the toughest obstacles. This experience is available year-round. You can glide safely over the winter snows just as easily as you can navigate the terrain in summer when the ground surface is comprised of loose gravel.
Situated within the Rocky Mountains, Banff National Park is the oldest national park in the country and a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. Alive with astonishing scenery, the park is home to many spectacular lakes, waterfalls and canyons.
In midwinter, you can explore a diverse array of landscapes. The park covers vast icefields and dense evergreen forests, with great mountains and glacial peaks ever looming in the distance. Meanwhile, on a summer cycle it’s possible to spot some iconic Canadian wildlife species including moose, cougar and black bear.
