Go behind the scenes at the Ocean Institute with an expert guide who will engage your family with everything from fun, interactive games and activities from modern science to sailing during this ocean discovery experience.
Founded in 1977, the Ocean Institute facility includes state-of-the-art labs, the Maddie James Seaside Learning Centre, two historic tall ships and an oceanographic research vessel. You’ll get to see it all during this immersive experience, which has been designed to spark curiosity and inspire a deep commitment to learning about the ocean.
As this is a private experience, your expert guide can tailor your visit to your, and your families’, interests. You’ll be sure to want to take to the high seas aboard a replica of a 1700s tall ship and join the crew to help raise the sails. You’ll feel like a true explorer from yesteryear.
Or perhaps you’d like to see what it’s like to be one of the Ocean Institute’s scientists by joining the Ocean Institute’s researchers on a marine life exploration trip in search of whales or assist the Ocean Institute staff in collecting samples of sea-floor mud and the smallest organisms on earth - phytoplankton and zooplankton.
One for a mini Jacques Cousteau type?
