Your road takes you first over the Patagonian steppe before you enter the Andean Forest. Cross the walkways and footbridges taking you ever closer to Perito Moreno, pausing at vantage points for impressive views of the glacier. The face of this huge ice structure is five kilometres long and reaches 60 metres over Lake Argentino. Unlike most glaciers, it is gradually advancing rather than retreating.
Next, head out over the lake to meet your bilingual mountain guide who will lead you across the beautiful and unusual landscape of the glacier. Your circuit showcases a series of winding streams, serene lagoons and gloomy crevasses, as well as azure ice formations. Photograph this awe-inspiring scenery while your guide explains the fascinating history and formation of this ice giant. During this experience, you will also learn how to put on, and walk in, a pair of crampons.
Additional notes about the tour
A reasonable level of fitness is required, and you should dress with the glacier’s cold conditions in mind.
