About Savute Safari Lodge
This characterful lodge enjoys a secluded position on the banks of the Savute Channel. Guests stay in the timber-framed, elegant thatched chalets, which seem to blend into the surrounding wilderness. The lodge offers a shaded viewing deck, an al fresco dining area and a swimming pool – all ideal vantage points for watching the astonishing variety of wildlife. The local resident herd of elephant are a firm favourite with visitors. They’re often spotted making their way down to the water to drink, bathe and play.
Led by expert guides, guests can explore the many treasures of Chobe National Park in open-sided 4x4 safari vehicles. The surrounding area is known for its healthy population of elephant, but also as a location for witnessing Africa’s second largest zebra migration (between November and December).
Dining outside is always a highlight of any trip to Africa, and dinner at the Savute Safari Lodge is no exception. The main deck overlooks the waterhole, which is visited by many different types of mammal and bird species. Enjoying a delicious al fresco meal, as the lodge’s guides tell fascinating stories of their animal encounters, is an unbeatable way to end any day in the African bush. After dinner, settle into a comfortable chair by the campfire and sip a sundowner as the stars begin to appear overhead.
