About Bisate
Located in a natural amphitheatre of an eroded volcanic cone, the setting of Bisate Lodge is dramatic to say the least. There are incredible views of the volcanic peaks of Bisoke and Karisimbi from your elegant room. Every aspect of the design is contemporary and welcoming.
The six exclusive suites are the ideal base for gorilla trekking in this unparalleled natural world. It’s all about the mountain gorilla here, but other activities around the lodge include guided nature walks, hikes to the lakes and caves, birding for the 13 endemic species, visits to local neighbourhoods and Rwandan tea and coffee tasting, if you can bear to not trek for a time.
The lodge also has an extensive habitat restoration programme and every guest can get involved with tree planting and visits to the Karisoke Research Centre. Established in 1967 by Dian Fossey, this was the location for her famous 18-year study of the mountain gorilla. This is the perfect adventure for a blend of seclusion, astonishment and welcoming group activities.
