Gonarezhou is wild and rugged Zimbabwe at its best
Gonarezhou National Park is one of Zimbabwe’s most ruggedly beautiful and biologically rich parks. Its name means the Place of Many Elephants, and vast herds of long-tusked giants congregate here. In this pristine wilderness lion, leopard, giraffe, zebra and even the rare king cheetah join the elephant herds by the waters.
Gonarezhou makes up part of the vast Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park. This massive Pan-African park spans three countries and aims to protect fragile habitats and reestablish ancient migration routes. It is great for the environment, but it's also ideal for wildlife spotters.
There are three major rivers, the Save, Runde and Mwenezi, that cut throughGonarezhou. Their pools attract great gatherings of wildlife. Our specialist safari guides will be on hand to secure you the finest vantage points.
Along with the Chibilia and Duguvi Falls, the red sandstone Chilojo Cliffs are one of the park’s most breathtaking natural features. Formed over millions of years in the Runde River valley we recommend visiting at sunset and watching their colours seem to subtly shift.
Our Gonarezhou National Park safaris offer an authentic introduction to this majestic landscape. Your bespoke itineraries and traditional, but stylish, accommodation will exemplify the best of the classic African safari.
