Meet your private A&K guide in the morning, who will take you up into the village of Yuhu, lined with traditional stone houses. It was also the former residence of Joseph Rock, an Austrian-American explorer and botanist who lived there from the 1920s to the 1940s studying Naxi culture and contributing to the National Geographic. Today, you can see his former house exhibiting photographs he took of his work and showcasing the tools that he used.
Then settle into an outdoor theatre at the base of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain to watch a Naxi concert. The backdrop of snow-capped peaks is just as dramatic as the large-scale performance. Watch 500 actors, all from local villages, performing traditional song and dance from 10 different ethnic groups. After an hour, you’ll hop on a cable car up to Spruce Meadow where, from its lush pastures, you can see over forested highlands all the way to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain.
