From north…
Located in northeast Vietnam, near Hanoi, is the remarkable natural wonder of Halong Bay. Here the mystical limestone rock formations – which legend tells were formed by a dragon’s breath – create a beautiful backdrop to an overnight cruise on a traditional junk boat.
Food forms a big part of any luxury honeymoon to Vietnam. Whether you simply tuck into delicious dinners, sample unusual street food or take full advantage of your visit with a cookery course. Our street-food tour of local markets with an American chef will introduce you to the basics of Vietnamese culture and cuisine, which of course you can enjoy afterwards.
Mid-point
There is no better place in Vietnam to have clothes tailor-made than in Hoi An, a captivating old trading town on the central east coast. Strolling along the wharf and exploring the traditional houses, many of which are now art galleries and workshops, is a pleasant way to while away the day. Bicycles and boats are ideal for exploring the rural areas and enticing beaches nearby.
Surrounded by jungle-topped mountains and with fabulous views of the shimmering East Vietnam Sea, the spectacular sandy bays of the central coastline are conducive to beachside relaxation.
To south…
The southern highlights include the buzzing cosmopolitan metropolis of Ho Chi Minh City. Wide boulevards and French colonial buildings house world famous restaurants, designer boutiques and energetic nightlife. A cosy meal at the much-revered Cuc Gach Quan restaurant is a must, as is a thrilling Vespa tour. The Cu Chi tunnels further south give an insight into the life of the Viet Cong, and the Mekong Delta is the place for a cruise on a local sampan (flat-bottomed boat). Off the southern coast lies the scattered Con Dao islands; 15 tropical idylls replete with gorgeous beaches, verdant forests and mesmerising wildlife. For beachside romancing, stay at the Six Senses Con Dao, a resort occupying one kilometre of white sandy coastline. The stylish wooden villas here all have private infinity pools, as well as dreamy sea views.
