Explore one of Morocco’s most enigmatic regions
Morocco's southern region is one of diverse landscapes and historic settlements. Nothing can prepare you for the panorama of semi-arid, snow-topped mountains and serrated cliffs as you descend from the High Atlas Mountains.
Our South Morocco holidays take you through these remarkable landscapes and on to places like Ouarzazate. This town is one of the main gateways to the desert for caravanners. Its Kasbah Taourirt gives you a magnificent introduction to Berber architecture. You can also visit the World Heritage Site of Ait Benhaddou. This ancient, riverside village has provided the backdrop for films such as Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia.
Our guides will take you to the Skoura palm grove, where fruit orchards grow, situated 25 miles from Ouarzazate. We’ll lead you through atmospheric kasbahs, each more and more impressive as you penetrate deeper into the palm grove. Head to Taroudant, a market town where the busy souks sell the products of the rich and fertile Souss Valley. Or tour the old Kasbah Quarter, where the Saadians had their palaces, before a well-earned rest at Dar Ahlam or Les Jardins de Skoura, just a couple of our hand-picked properties.
