Come to the ‘end of the world’ in Morocco to disconnect from it all. Scarabeo Camp is a standalone cluster of ecru pitched tents amid Agafay’s mineral-rich lunar landscape that mirror the peaks of the distant Atlas Mountains.
Live like long-lost Golden Age explorers, but with a touch of luxury. Wake up with the sunrise, breathe in the early morning aroma of freshly baked bread, and gather around evening bonfires after dinner for tales under the stars.
There are 10 tents on site, simple in stature but with elegant African-infused interiors that utilise the natural and local materials around the camp. Inside you'll find handy heaters, cosy Berber rugs and Moroccan lanterns – a reminder of distant journeys – and there’s a terrace to take in the spectacular surrounding views and spellbinding stars that this region is so well known for.
It’s hard to underestimate the peace of this setting away from the hustle and bustle of Marrakech – which is still only a short drive away if you wish to explore its chaotically colourful souks to find all wonder of spices and ornaments. Just make sure to be back in time for dinner – a mixture of local and international dishes usually served at candlelight.
