About Neil
Travelling to Asia for the first time in 2001 was a mind-blowing experience that has shaped my life and career. From sitting down for butter tea with yak and nomadic herders within a remote valley in China to snorkelling the most incredibly vibrant coral reefs in Komodo National Park, the experiences I enjoyed were varied and unforgettable. Decades later I have visited Asia over 25 times and continue to be in awe of the fabulous culture, history, cuisine, and wildlife it has to offer.
Talking points
What's your favourite destination?
Indonesia. I find the combination of volcanic landscapes, verdant rice terraces, spectacular coral reefs, untouched beaches, and the harmonious melting pot of cultures so alluring.
Which destination is top of your bucket list, and why?
India is almost a continent in its own right with so much to see. I really want to explore the various diverse regions from the mountainous north to tropical south and witness the hustle and bustle of everyday life of the most populous country on earth.
Which five items do you always pack when travelling?
Earplugs, eye mask, phone charger, adaptors, and mosquito/bug spray.
What's your top travel tip?
Some of the best food in Asia can be found at unassuming local restaurants. Ignore the décor. If the restaurant is busy, especially with locals, give it a try.
