Visiting Jordan in January
January is often the coolest month in Jordan, and the climate is most comfortable around Aqaba and the Dead Sea where you can expect regular sunny days. Temperatures hang around 10 degrees Celsius towards the north of the country and in the eastern desert regions, so be sure to pack warm clothes. Yet these conditions are much milder than European winters and you can still have a great time spending the breezy evenings in cosy restaurants and luxury hotels.
Visiting Jordan in February
By February, things are warming up a little. The south still has the best weather, and since it’s low season you can expect fewer crowds around major attractions such as Petra and the Dead Sea.
Witness the Aqaba Traditional Arts Festival, where you will learn all about Bedouin culture. It’s also a great opportunity to pick up authentic art and craftworks.
There is another festival in Azraq, which can be reached from Amman. Witness lively musical and dance performances and sample traditional food in an authentic Jordanian town.
Visiting Jordan in March
With the arrival of spring, the daily sunshine stays a little longer and the landscape is bursting with life. Glorious greens spring up across the valleys as wildflowers pepper the roadsides, making March a great month to travel throughout the country and enjoy outdoor experiences. Hike among the staggered hills surrounding the Dead Sea in search of wildlife or stroll along the coastline of Aqaba.
Visiting Jordan in April
Although the evenings and night-times are still fairly cool, you can expect warm days throughout April. Another scorching month, July is a great time to discover Jaresh, The City of 1,000 Columns. Situated further to the north, this enchanting destination is slightly milder than other regions. The streets echo with ancient memories and the Arabic architecture is simply exquisite.
In July, you can also enjoy Jerash Festival where you can experience a huge array of entertainment, from art exhibitions and literary workshops to insightful history seminars.
Visiting Jordan in August
August is a hot month and a great time for a city break. The narrow streets offer plenty of shade as you visit Jordan’s best museums, and you can expect fewer crowds. Break up your days with relaxing siestas and make the most of the long warm nights.
August is also a fantastic month for stargazing in the Dana Nature Reserve, far from the city lights. Here, you can witness the spectacular Perseid meteor shower in cinematic clarity.
Visiting Jordan in September
From September to early November, Aqaba becomes a great spot for diving adventures. While the temperatures are beginning to cool on land, the water is at its warmest.
