About Chris

I fell in love with East Africa and the continent in my early 20s, when I got the opportunity to coach football in the Shimba Hills, in Kenya. Developing home-stay networks in Flores, Indonesia further enhanced the passion to travel. Since then, I have been lucky enough to travel in luxury with A&K to elsewhere in Africa, the Caribbean and the Middle East.

The Congo – to see lowland gorillas, forest elephants, a rich culture and amazing landscapes

Which five items do you always pack when travelling?

My camera, some music, playing cards and a notebook. Unfortunately my passport should also be here - nearly forgotten on too many occasions!

What's your top travel tip?

Don't follow the guidebooks and speak to the locals – they are far better guides than any book can be. Let your travel plans change, and explore
